Intel on Monday officially announced its new 14th-generation Core ‘Raptor Lake Refresh’ series for desktop processors, which includes six new unlocked desktop processors.
Aimed at PC enthusiasts, this latest-generation desktop processor family offers the world’s fastest desktop frequencies, the world’s best desktop experience for enthusiasts, and unparalleled AI overclocking for incredible gaming performance.
“Since the introduction of our performance hybrid architecture, Intel has consistently raised the bar for desktop performance. With our Intel Core 14th Generation processors, we’re showing once again why enthusiasts turn to Intel for the best desktop experience available on the market today,” Roger Chandler, Intel Vice President and General Manager, Enthusiast PC and Workstation, Client Computing Group.
The new 14th generation Raptor Lake Refresh processors line-up has six new Core i9, i7, and i5 chips, which include the 14600K, 14700K, and 14900K, along with their GPU-less KF variants.
Led by the Intel Core i9-14900K, which the company claims as the “fastest desktop processor at volume,” comes with a 6GHz maximum Turbo frequency, 24 cores (8 power cores and 16 efficiency cores), and 32 threads, which makes it ideal for high power tasks such as gaming, streaming, and video editing.
On the other hand, the Core i7-14700K comes with 20 cores (25% more than the previous generation) and 28 threads. Further, the base clocks on the P-core are 3.4GHz and 2.5GHz on the E-core for the 14700K. It also comes with a maximum clock speed that reaches up to 5.6GHz “Turbo Boost Max 3.0” speeds and supports DDR5 memory and PCIe 5.0.
Lastly, the Intel Core i5-14600K, which is the successor to last year’s Intel Core i5-13600K, comes with a total of 20 cores (6 power cores and 8 efficiency cores). It has a base clock of 3.5GHz on the P-core side and a maximum clock speed of 5.3GHz.
“Intel Core 14th Gen processors power an immersive gaming experience with up to 23% gaming performance uplift compared to leading competitor processors, while new gaming-focused features like Intel Application Optimization (APO) ensure better-than-ever application threading alongside existing Intel Thread Director application thread scheduling,” Chandler added.
Further, the latest-generation unlocked desktop processors now include the Extreme Tuning Utility (XTU) AI Assist feature for one-click AI-guided overclocking, as well as support for DDR5 XMP speeds well beyond 8,000 megatransfers/second (MT/S).
On the connectivity front, the new Intel 14th Gen Core desktop CPUs come equipped with integrated support for Wi-Fi 6/6E, Bluetooth 5.3, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, Thunderbolt 4, as well as upcoming Thunderbolt 5 wired connectivity – promising speeds up to 80 Gbps of bi-directional bandwidth.
Additionally, the new CPUs are also compatible with the current Intel 600 and 700 series motherboard chipsets, which allows the enthusiasts to easily upgrade their existing systems without having to buy new motherboards and enjoy the latest-generation gaming and creator performance.
Starting October 17, 2023, Intel Core 14th Gen desktop processors will be available globally online, in retail outlets, and through OEM partner systems. The Core i9-14900K will be priced at $589, the Core i7-1700K at $409, and the Core i5-14600K at $319.
